 Mexico
is also home to over 60 indigenous groups, making it one
of the most ethnically diverse countries in the world.
Among these groups are the Mayans: a very intelligent
people who are predominant in the Southern states of Yucatan,
Campeche and Quintana Roo. Their ancient cities and temples
can still be found throughout the Yucatan Peninsula and
down parts of the eastern coast. Don't forget--the Mayas
are the proud creators of the only "official"
wonder of North America: Chichen Itza!
An ecologist may stand in awe at all the ecosystems
to be found in Mexico: these vary from mountain ranges
to deserts, from mangroves to tropical rainforests.
Further, Mexico is a land of megabiodiversity. Mexico
